Peter Beattie gives it the flick and hands the wheel to Captain Blythe (I know it's Bligh...it's a freebie). A Bounty it definitely what it was for BeattMaster P., Blythe will be hoping for the opposite outcome. Being handed a mutiny after BeattMaster P's abortive steering is probably what's awaitng Captain Blythe. Maybe it was a concerted effort by the BeattMaster to screw things up as best he could then pass the ball wide...

Don't forget your sunscreen and fishing rod, Anna.

He (Beattie) is getting out of the way of the 30million souls rushing to our shores to make up the 50million?
There won't be room on the beaches, or the roads, or the trains, or the etc. etc.

You know I would have loved to have been able

to see things from Peter Beatties point of view

but I could never seem to be able to jam my

head that far up my butt.

Interesting timing. On the one hand, he's passed on the baton in time for Anna Bligh's government to recover some ground before the 2009 election. Given that Queensland has nothing that resembles an effective Opposition, it's quite possible that a Bligh gavernment can get itself re-elected.

I have to say that the prospect of a female Premier in Queensland is interesting, although I'm sure that what passes for media north of the Tweed will ensure that she's trivialised and misrepresented at every opportunity.

Mind you, I wouldn't be completely surprised if Beattie was to announce candidacy for a Federal seat in the next few weeks...
