J S Mill, "I would be interested to know the source of your belief that it is immigration that is powering housing prices"

Apart from the ever increasing taxes of governments that regard residential housing as a milch cow for extra revenue, it is demand that powers prices. Where else you think the increase in population and hence demand is coming from if not from the continuing record numbers of immigrants, because Commonwealth government reports have been talking about delayed and low fertility of Australian women since the Seventies, at least. Australian couples are not producing enough children to even replace themselves.

For interest, C'wealth reports also identify the continuing high cost of housing as a prime reason for delayed and low fertility of Australian women.
