MAREELORRAINE, Leigh and Shadow Minister say all that is needed to be said.

Regarding “People smugglers exist because of a tragic need, and referring to them as vermin and scum bags, betrays a surprising ignorance of the real world; it is un-Christian. It plays to the lowest common denominator in the Australian community.”

And Bruce is playing the socialistic sentimentalist card….

He is wrong of course, “people smuggling” (along terrorism) define some of what are the lowest common denominators in any community.

And on the topic of Terrorism - some of what might be happening to Tamils might be said to be a reaction to them waging a failed 30+ year war of terror and cessation from Sri Lanka.

Doubtless many Sri Lankans (including the military) lost family members in the Tamil terror bombings in the recent past. I see little compassion for the past victims of Tamil terror.
