I have great sympathy for and empathy with the suffering Burmese, but I don't think that anything said or done by Kevin Rudd will in any way influence the junta.

I believe Mr Rudd should very strongly speak out. I know the corrupt criminal generals will ignore, but it reassures the Burmese people that they are not forgotten. It supports the morale of that wonderful lady, Aung san Suu Kyi, and may embarrass Burma's two biggest supporters, China and Singapore who gain commercially from their relationship with the generals, to lean on the bastards. If China wants to be a respected world leading power, then it must act so.
