Communicating bushfire danger : Comments

By Dan Brian, published 12/2/2009

If the government can send robo-calls, emails, SMS, and faxes for election campaigns then why can't the technology be used to send early warning messages to those in danger from bushfires?

Giving Telstra control of an Alert System that needs to allow local first responders quick access is like buying your kids his first bike, removing the wheels, and saying "there you go I've bought you the best bike money can buy". Well done to the Australian Early Warning Network for providing a solution for the people now lets see if the government will support it or throw in with the Sol The Cowboy at Telstra for another ride to nowhere (can anyone remember a broadband network?)
