Economic boosts must target our neglected people : Comments

A remarkable turnaround: now it seems that increasing pensions is seen as a way to help the economy so it is universally applauded.

Mr Right I think was wrong to suggest that good government and regulation have put Australia in the position it its now, it was the resources boom.

However he is right to say this was a good move. Governments don't generally do well. They spend money poorly and by taking money out of the system and making it easier to not work than to work are a cause of poverty.

However by taking the proceeds from a common good (resources out of the ground) they are taking a benefit and passing it around in the most efficient way possible. By giving it away. These people will then be able to spend it as they see fit. Some will squander it, but even if they do the money will go somewhere it will do some good. Some however will use it to better their lives. Take the kids on a holiday. Get the guttering done.

I have hope for the Rudd government. This is what government should do.
