Problem with invoking the "Good book" is that it is the same book that Jonny Howard and George Bush supposedly use. They both claim to be very Christian, and so their morals are driven by this book.
Did this stop Jonny lying through his teeth and supporting the mass murder of Iraq? Did GW have moral qualms about global kidnap and torture? Too many folk doing evil using the same book.
The lesson is that economics is too tricky for religion to be involved. Too many counter-intuative factors that need an experts understanding, not glib platitudes.
Back on topic: Capital and Labour used to be pretty balanced in Australia, but modern times mean that Labour is falling behind. How can a laborer compete with better machines and cheap asian labour? When governments no longer encourage real industry (ones that generate new wealth, not the phoney profits of the financial "industry"), the powerful can just exploit the poor.
I am hoping that folks remember who was in charge when the current cycle was over cooked: Capital (ie. the Libs), not Labour!
