1. In reply to point one. While the concept that our society can always be improved is a noble one, the point is that western societies are the ones that cop all the criticism, while today’s chardonnay sucking revolutionaries have developed a case of acute myopia when it comes to non white societies. Endlessly finding fault in spectacular success while ignoring total failure looks odd to me.
In reply to point two. I am old enough to remember that forty years ago, with Israel about to be crushed by overwhelming Arab armies, “angry young men” such as yourself considered Israel the poor victims and the Arabs the oppressors. The winds of change came about solely because of a philosophy. People like you need to believe that winners are always oppressors and losers are always victims. It is the only way that you can make sense of the world. Israel lost its victim status because it was a winner, a democracy, and friends with the hated USA. That was a full house of outrages for our Gucci Socialists, and they quickly changed sides.
On point three. Oil is blood to the entire world and a lot of it comes from Muslim countries. We have to deal with unpleasant regimes who actively dream of destroying the western world, whether we like it or not. That we may prefer those regimes simply despise us and who oppress their own people, rather that prefer those who actively support terrorism against us while oppressing their own people, is just Realpolitic. I also disagree with your conclusion about this not being a clash of cultures. They hate us because we allow freedom of speech, freedom of religion, we drink beer and wine, and believe in near gender equality. They also hate us because we won, and they lost.
It is difficult to debate in 350 words, is it not? Perhaps we can continue this on http://www.debaterelate.com/phpBB2/
