No free lunch with child porn : Comments

By Barbara Biggs, published 13/11/2007

Education for police, our children and ourselves, is the only effective tool we have to counter Internet porn and head off spot fires that could burn us in ways we can hardly bear to imagine.

“porn made by men for men”

I'm a man, but I don't produce porn.

I don't even have a camera. The kids have about 4 cameras at last count, so if I need a camera, I usually use one of theirs.

And I don't look at porn web sites, as they could contain viruses.

So what do I have to do to adhere to my stereotype.

If it is acknowledged that viewing child pornography is actually harmful to the viewers, and not just to the filmed participants, when will the mainstream porn industry (indeed, perhaps even the more mainstream film and television industry) admit that violent or sexually exploitive images are harmful to viewers?
Our culture is constantly insulted by graphic images which would have been off limits a mere ten years ago.
Why does 'ground-breaking' always mean 'sexually or violently voyeuristic' when it comes to visual media?
