Forgive me while I puke. what absolute unadulterated rubbish.
What about the "right" to follow ones own culture ? Or.. the right to 'read/view' what you like as an adult...?
Yep..we can let them have alllll the PORN and GROG that they can consume, and then we can watch as they spin out of control, spiralling down the hell hole of social disintegration.
How does 'human rights' address culture ? Simple..it doesnt.
Western Human Rights thinking is in reality "Philosophical and Cultural Imperialism" of the worst kind.
Firstly without God or reference to the Almighty, RIGHTS do not exist. There is only 'power' and the privilegs which ensue.
Bring the Almighty back into the picture and you have the 10 commandments, with divine authority.
Summarized they boil down to:
1/ Love God
2/ Do for your neighbour as you would have them do for you.
It's that simple.
Unfortunately, with Indigenous peoples, we have stuffed up their situation so badly with many ill planned ill emplemented programs and laws, that they are rather exposed to many kinds of self abuse.
There IS...a difference in Indigenous Christian communities. Yes.. A HUGE difference. So, I would toss 'secular based human rights' out the window as far as I could, and offer something with SOUL, in its place.
-Inner transformation.
-Forgiveness for past wrongs.
-Renewed relationships.
-Resurrected dignity.
-Purpose, and meaning in life.
Without those, "human rights" are 'noisy gongs, and tinkling symbols'
just empty words.
