No win here for America, Bush will be remembered for not having a plan after invasion.
And history will not treat him well, increasing problems in Afghanistan may give America a path out but little else holds hope.
A win just will not be found here and Americans must make that movie telling us how they won not lost the war and move on.

I wonder whether all this talk of prestige etc is blinding us to some uncomfortable truths. It seems to me that the debate regarding US involvement in Iraq, is predicated on an assumption that the issue of withdrawal is still a choice. My question is; what would be the human costs to the US, to withdraw from Iraq? In other words how to do you pull 100,000 + troops and equipment out the cities and towns of Iraq? Is it that the US is in a trap of its own making? I'm not a military bloke but my readings have indicated that withdrawal in the face of the enemy is the most difficult and dangerous of military maneuveres.
Which begs a question of the nature of this war in Iraq. If the above is correct this war is about survival, not victory.

Is really US prestige at stake?

As long as America is capable to implant her version of democracy worldwide everything is OK.
