Yes, what is is about the religion of economics and climate change sceptism? Have you noticed in the press that its Terry McCrann and his mates that now almost stand alone in denial? Maybe the reason we're all wondering why Governments have been caught flat footed in relation to the drought is because rationalist, market oriented, minimal role for Government type people are now at the centre of public policy throughout the country. Its not as though global warming and its potential Australian impacts are new issues.

After a decade or so pursuing the small Government holy grail, Governments don't think any more. They react, deal with today's issues, and make it up as they go along. Why plan when you have markets? Ministers also tend to get captured by their Departmental advisors - read economists. Strategic thinking capacity went in favour of credit ratings and low taxes long ago

Are economists leading us down a slippery slope?
