poor old foster!! He may have thought he was finished with his past but sometimes our pasts are not finished with us. I too spent the first couple of a 7 year sentence at Arthur Gorrie. Foster was in A2 as bernie says and as an essential worker i spent some months also in A2. After a time i was moved to A1 were i had the pleasure of meeting Bernie. A man of integrity, honesty and decency. Foster on the other hand was smug, arrogant and had a certain superior attitude about him. Maybe it was the secrets of his past or his fear of prison life but he rarely left the unit. When a man is caught engaging in deviate behaviour and sent to prison all is taken away. We are stripped bare, reduced to the commoness and sameness of wearing browns. No big shots. Some men retain their dignity and worth. Others like the Fosters of this world do deals, negotiate softer sentences, swap sides. This basic premise is not about criminal codes or ethics its about having the integrity to be accountable, not to negotiate ones own wrongs at the expense of others. Foster now languishes in hell once again. In fear of his life....empty, without an ounce of worth or dignity. Good luck to his kind. Ones past may never be finished with us....Mick Barnes
