The Beatles on YouTube : Comments

By Nicholas Gruen, published 19/1/2007

The greatness of The Beatles flows as much from their lack of pomposity and pretension as from the plethora of great songs that have become standards. Best Blogs 2006.

Nicholas. Mean anything to me? Oh yeah mate. I was 12 when they broke here and I still have all the music although it's now MP3. Paid for it 4 times due to technology changes.

The good news is many of the young I know today love the Beatles too. It's just that most haven't heard it much and are stuck with the rave, rap, instant boy band, Britney rubbish as that's what gets pushed at them.

Virtually no attitude? Certainly their early music was boy girl and often taken from Chuck Berry and similar African American geniuses. Seen and heard as rebellion by the "oldies" of course. Rock n roll, 60's version. In my mind today with Animals and Stones, Kinks and more.

Attitude. "A day in the life"? For one. There's actually many more Nicholas, just listen again.

Disagree with your comments about the Who and Stones too. Stones were R n B at that time. Brian Jones influenced. It was music as they wanted and it was only when the Stones were offered mass media attention that Jones concedeed to Mick and Keith to join the mass market. Unavoidable given moeny is worshipped so but it changed their music. Ergo Brian's drift away into the world of Pooh corner and drugs.

The Beatles choreography was a replica of the Shadows who had a wild one kick by the two lead guitarists. All in suits as the Beatles were initially. The Animals "House of the Rising Sun" video was dreadful. Group in frozen pose except for Eric Burden strolling a few steps.

The Beatles. Ahhh. John of course was the soul and Paul the pretty face, talented but as we know deteriorated into mediocrity with age. 64 at last and still, well not rocking, but playing.

Loved the video - very charming. To this day nothing compares to the magic that was the beatles.

Betty - you'll have to provide more information as to what the problem is, or just try again. Check the forum rules...dunno what else to tell you.

Love, love me do Robby. I was a screamer I'm afraid. Throw our knickers in the air, it was fun.

Thanks Spendo. Resistence pays off, fingers crossed.
