Tom Richman’s article is the typical self serving autocratic rubbish promulgated by the men in ‘grey suits’. He writes as though they are the kings of the world and the rest of we plebeians should go and eat cake. Well this minion will be only to happy to accommodate anyone of his belief on the end of my proverbial pitchfork. What an arrogant little man he is to think that we as the community should allow he and his developer mates to have a cart blanch on where and how developments should be made. What an outrageous selfishness to criticize average Australians for wanting and expecting what was promised to them by Peter Beattie and the Labor Party. Richman’s article is nothing more than the writings of someone who wants to manipulate Governments and communities into accepting ideas that will see him and his millionaire mates make hundreds of millions of dollars developing and selling their land. All of this, while destroying the lives and lifestyles of 350,000 people in Brisbane. He is so completely beyond the boundaries of normal thinking that he does not even understand or care about the glaring self-interest in his ideas.

Tom Richards (and others), the Brisbane port at the mouth of the Brisbane river is dead and should now be buried. Planners and Governments should have realized by now that the opportunity to have rail driven delivery to the Port of Brisbane was lost 20 years ago. Governments and councils allowed and approved developer driven residential areas to completely surround the port and its transport linkages. As part of that community of 350,000 pitchfork wielding “kerfuffle” makers I say move the port of Brisbane for a fifth time and leave us to our small, but happy lives! How about you throw down a map of SEQ Tom, somewhere between North and South Stradbroke Island looks like a place that might stimulate some debate.

It seems a shame that he didn't offer a solution to this problem other than telling them to close down the Brisbane Port.

No matter what where or when anything gets done, someone is going to make a profit. That's part of our Australian way of life and that of a free Capitalistic society.

All they are trying to do is to improve the efficiency of moving products from point A to B, which hopefully will be for the betterment of all.
