For Australia, the art of foreign policy necessitates a finely tuned ability to balance potentially conflicting interests.

This post in brief is proabably best sumarized:

Australia's melancholy approach to Yasakuni will only help promote Beijings ambivalence towards Canberra if push comes to shove.

Abe is by far the housewifes choice as the next leader of Japan and Japanese men are being encouraged to rectify the Samurai Spirit after having been submervant salary men for the past 3 generations.

It is clear Australia's foerign relations with China are primarily economically motivated while its potential tensions are cultural with the Japanse and vice versa. Canberra will turn its back on injustices in China and refer to them as domestic issues while Japan insists Yasukuni is a domestic issue at the same time China will condem it as an international insult.

As a middle nation we could choose to support the reconciliation and forge the climate within a forum for a stronger and more untied East Asia our strenghts not weaknesses will help us overcome domestic rites and view a memorial for the best or worse.
