By Rob Shilkin, published 4/7/2006

While the World Cup dispatches tyranny with brutal shrift, the UN's history is one of mollycoddling.

Wow, what a surprise to see this article was printed in the Telegraph, the newspaper I refuse to lay my rabbits cage with, its simply not good enough for his urine.

A clever enough analogy but the message is old, yes we all know Rupert and Co. are on a zealous misssion to discredit the UN.

I know the UN is not immune from criticism and capable of buearacratic bungling but I'm sick of peopple trying the blame the sorry state of the world on the UN, it is innaccurate and simplistic.

The UN is at the mercy of its member States, and the author knows it.

Multi-lateral organistions are far from perfect and making them meaningful is an ambitous task, but conceding defeat means we go backwards. Back to good old fasioned power politics and empire.

Football 5 UN 0. No penalty shoot-out needed. (And what a great finish from Italy this morning, two beautifully worked and executed goals in the last 90 seconds of extra time. Almost justifies their questionable victory over Australia.)
