Just what this thread needed, B-D's own special brand of Christian kindness and compassion.

Garra,

at least that particular bile filled expulsion wasnt acompanied by a quote from the bible, that would have been too much.

Boaz. so refuges become imigrants become voters become politicaly active minority groups.

good.

at least they will combat the rise of that other politicaly active minority group, the christian far right.

so democracy is only good when the balance of votes is in your favour?

I'm putting this message here in the hope that the person involved will see it.

Having voted against in the online poll for relaxation of mandatory detention, the last thing I expected to get was a threatening phone call. Obviously the are elements of the left in this country who are just as self centered, bullying, and against free speech and democracy as they are in the UK where I come from. It's obvious now why so few people voted against the motion if this is what happens. If you are reading this, then grow up you pathetic idiot.

Given the fact the Commonwealth of Australia was born from relatively recent European colonisation of Aboriginal land, and consequently populated entirely by migrants, the statement:

'The history of immigration shows that the most recent migrants are often the most intolerant towards the next wave seeking refuge.'

explains (but by no means justifies) Australia's xenophobic approach to asylum seekers.
