Des Moore argues the AIRC and Federal Court have undermined attempts by governments to develop a freer labour market.

Again we have Des Moore espousing a ridiculous view of the world. He claims that there is no need for societal intervention in the labour market to protect workers from unscrupulous employers.

Why in our society do we need Trade Practices Laws to protect some companies from the unscrupulous activities of other companies? Why do we need the ACCC to ensure those in strong bargaining positions do not undertake unfair and anti-competitive activities?

Why has centuries of common law evolved to regulate commercial activity through contractual activity?

If the market worked, businesses would be able to choose who they entered into contracts with and exit those contractual relationships at will.

But this is not the case. Surely if the business community needs laws and tribunals to protect itself from the sharks within then the workers exposed to the same sharks need laws and tribunals to administer to provide the necessary protection.

It is simple logic, however I am sure that this is lost on the likes of Des Moore.
