Hi Kenny - no, if you read my post again you'll see that I placed thugby at one extreme of a spectrum of football codes, with football ("pommyball") at the other. There is no doubt that players of all codes will engage in inappropriate sexual and/or other behaviour, particularly en masse and when alcohol is involved.

However, I'm arguing that the specific kinds of misogynist behaviour that have recently become problematic for rugby league, in particular, are structured according to the dictates of its own values and meanings (in concert with those in the wider society).

I can't recall any reports of "bonding sessions" involving "gang bangs" in any other football code. Could it be something to do with the scrum, do you think?

I thought the scrum was a chance for the chaps to touch each other. :o
