I congratulate the author on her extremely well-written, well-thought out article. It is so true. Women deserve better than abortion. It is our society that makes them feel that they have no other choice. It is in this country's best interest to offer women real alternative to abortion, as our fertility rate is falling drastically. We must help all families, single and partnered, to raise their children the best way. Our children are our future, and we need to invest there!

I have recently read that alot of women having abortions are women with a mortgage, who think they cannot pay the mortgage if they have a child. That is unacceptable! Why should a women be coerced to kill her child because of the banks!! Housing is a need and a right!

We need more childcare, flexible working hours, and employers need to be open to job-sharing and part-time work. We need to provide education to young mothers, and Rachael's idea of campus child care is excellent!

A very good website is http://www.feministsforlife.com.

While i do agree with the article and its main points it lacks the idea that some women regardless of money or age ect just don't want to have a child. pro-choice supprots the womens choice whatever that is regardless of the resons for it.

I found this article very good and thought I'd offer a personal view. In 1980 I was abused by a family friend that resulted in my falling pregnant at the tender age of just 13yrs old. I went through with the pregnancy and now have a 26yr old son. He works in management and is a happy, well adjusted, talented young man. There was very little support around when I found out I was pregnant or afterward, I was living on my own with my son when he was just 2months old. Obiviously I couldn't remain at school but later I went to buisiness college and got a diploma in business management.I am glad that I made the decision to have my son and do not regret a single day. I am currently writing a book on this and hope that it gets published to help other young mothers. It doesn't always have to the be the 'end of life' for mother or child when falling pregnant even if its through abuse. It is a very hard road but also rewarding, and it is possible to not be a burden on society. Support and information is the key.

Ms Patterson forgot to mention the fact that those who oppose abortion, also oppose contraception:

AND

in countries such as Nicaragua, where the Catholic Church has succeeded in banning abortion, women are dying and the antis are celebrating:
