The attitude has been to give it a green light with restrictions (parental consent), but, this being a slippery slope, doctors have not even waited for the law to be passed, and how many of them, I wonder, even wait for parental consent? What about objective support or a second expert opinion from a third party?

An article, worth reading. As a layman who has little knowledge of medicine, I am left with the thought that we have entered an new era. An era where the decicions and wishes of relatives responsible are no longer taken into account when the 'superior' knowledge of the medical profession is seen as the ultimate decider.

I am concerned that life as we know it, leaves no room for alternative choices. Law makers are faced with making difficult decisions and I pity them to have to be in that situation. From a personal point of view, I would prefer that relatives and or those who responsible for their loved ones should be be given all the advice possible and the decision left up to them and them alone. (No coercion and or subtle threats). This absolves the medical faculty from any decisions.

We as a species are evolving now at a much faster pace and it is difficult for someone to keep pace with new discoveries being made everday. I have left instructions for those who may end up being responsible for the caring of this body to allow me to pass from this life with dignity and respect due to me.

Please note that I have no axe to grind nor do I belong to any lunatic fringe groups, I am just an ordinary bloke in the street who has an opinion on life and what it means to me. Anyway, enough of my thoughts, I guess we will keep stumbling until one day we wake to find that everything is possible. We have much to learn.
