I completely agree with what is being said. The way young people are treated when turning 18 is cruel, i would know, i have just left state care. I'm struggling with just the fact that the department and the system were my life, my family and my identity for such a long period of time, and in a day its gone. I still have the same needs as i did the day before turning eighteen, I want someone to do research on the amount of young people who attemp or commit suicide after leaving state care, there are no organisations for young people transitioning from care, they is hardly any support, and your right, most of us dont have family, child safety was our family. I feel like ive been neglected and abandend by my family all over again. The system needs to be changed, something needs to be done. I lost 2 good friends to suicide last year, both had been in care, i have attempted suicide 3 times since leaving care, i left 5 months ago. I will fight for the cause of helping young people leaving state care, i will live just to fight, to change the system
