The main take of the article seems to have eluded you,i.e.stats like you present can give a falsely positive impression. The other and more positive take was that enablers of the con are looking for ways to absolve themselves.

Renewable energy is not a con, I think you are following your political bent, more than anything else. There has to be a future plan, and there has to be a pathway involving a transition away from fossil fuels. All the indicators for Australia is a future based on wind, solar and to a lesser degree hydro, that is the preferred direction . Both coal and gas will be around for a while to come, and gas seems to be the back up to renewable's, until battery storage takes over.

I agree that it wasn't a con when it started, but given how it has progressed I would say that people still banging the drum are nothing less.

I'd love to buy cheap, safe, reliable and long lasting batteries and go off-grid, but that would be a bit like embracing the microprocessor revolution in the 1960s, which is kind of like what BSC Bowen is doing with our electricity grid today.

It is complete madness.
