Past times are long gone, and thankfully behind us.
The importance of stories from those times is what they can tell us of attitudes and standards in the past.
We can learn something from that, as it helps us to picture the progress of the human race.
We can see we have reached a place which is far in advance of that of historical times.
This is all we need to learn.
Past writings might be well put together, and illustrate the cleverness of the writer.
However, their importance is far overrated.
Had we never heard of them, we could still live adequate and fruitful lives.
I have often wondered why 'the classics' are held in such high regard.
Our own up to date writings are far more useful.
I would rather remember what my grandfather said, than dwell on the writing of some scribe from a thousand years ago.
