By Binoy Kampmark, published 5/8/2026

What's the difference between horse and cow, dog and pig in the human food chain, and why should it matter?

A horse is a horse of course of course, unless of course the horse of course is the famous Mr Ed.
Confucius say, when eating Chinese take away, expect to eat cat. ( And cat skins can be collected at back door of Chinese restaurant).

He also say, lady that fly plane upside down, sure to have crack-up!

Hi Nuremberg Dan,

A somewhat sarCATic comment, about what Chinese might or might not eat. Lets explore what other folks might eat. Indians-cockroaches, Koreans-dogs, Mexicans-grasshoppers,scorpions, and tarantulas.
My daughter-in-law from South America-guinea pigs, she breeds them on her balcony. YOU possibly eat snot, in the form of oysters. Your ancestors, Haggis, contents unknown. My wife, yummy kina, the guts of sea unrchins, bloody expensive if you have to buy it. There's nothing like a good feed of terotero, pigs intestine, had it the other night. If you ever make it to my house for dinner, I'll be sure to serve you up a big plate full of kina and terotero. Something I would recommend to you, I haven't tried it myself, but you should enjoy, Balut, a boiled fertilised duck egg with a nearly developed embryo inside, eaten straight from the shell. Fresh is best.

French people eat horse meat (viande de cheval), when they get sick of horse, they eat yummy snails.

p/s Have you tried boiled mutton bird? Rather fatty, but tasty.

p/p/s A Chinese Malay friend when he came to Australia, felt rather off, after eating the humble Aussie snag. Thought it contained strange ingredients, things unknown to mankind, I think he was right.

Hi AC,

Europeans were eating each other during WW2, I think its a Anglo-Saxon-Celtic cultural thing. So watch out if the lads should come a call'n. Anyone over the centuries lots of people have ate lots of people.

p/s I hear that Maccas have been substituting dog in their McCats, how disgusting!

Geez that's even worse than when KFC tried to sneak in cabbage on the burgers instead of lettuce.
What does it take to get a decent cat burger in this country!
