Hi Fester,

It's only in recent times that many of the religious have abandoned the "kill the blasphemer", and moved to a more compassionate attitude towards others. The three major monotheistic religions, Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, all have an unenviable record of intolerance towards others, from crusaders to jihadist.

Interesting survey. God or Australia? Get your bets on now!

Backstory: When I was born, 1949 (yeah, I am that old), I was smack-bang in the middle of the political Overton Window. Times changed, but I didn't. The Overton Window shifted far to the left, leaving me as an extreme far right-wing radical ratbag. Of course I'm not, but that's what popular Australian media and society calls me. From my perspective in the window, I see most Australian media and society as being extreme far left-wing radical ratbags and of course, I know they aren't. That's just where I sit.

Now as for God or Australia: I put my money on God. I can live anywhere in the world and still live with God. God is a constant. Australia is not, hence the Overton Window shift to the left. God didn't shift, Australia did. They embraced Marxism which hates God. Marxism works tirelessly to destroy God and all God's creations, hence I figure the left's need for this survey to measure their level of success.

Australia moved away from God. They call it "progressive", which I define as Marxist/Satanic. In my younger days I would have fought to the death to protect Australia and its freedom. But now, over the decades of my life, I have witnessed greedy, corrupt and stupid Australians (by name only) infiltrate education, academia, politics, the judiciary, media and even the churches, with Marxist Satanism. The window moved to the left. Australia got corrupted. It's not my Australia anymore. Now I'm too old to go somewhere else. I'd like to. I tell my kids to get out now, while they still can. Go! Leave!

BTW, because of God I don't hate anybody. I'm no danger to anyone. I'm lucky I can still express this opinion here without being arrested and put into re-education camp for "hate speech", which has just arrived in Australia. Isn't that exciting. Haven't you noticed?

God or Australia? God or Satan? God wins any day!

Hi Paul,

I guess the question that always comes up is one of purpose. Is it about oppression or making life better? Aside from some of the consistent failures of socialism in practice, I think it a matter of making your own life. It amazes me how many people are unaware that happy work places are made by the workers in them. The principal is likely scalable.

Spot on, Fester—it’s the self-righteous belief that "we are cleaning up society" that drives extremist violence, regardless of the ideology behind it. Whether framed through religion, politics, or pure nationalism, treating difference as justification for persecution is where the real danger lies. True civil society only functions when we value human dignity over tribal line-drawing.
