Australia is “not finished” after 238 years?

Australia was at its peak in the 1960s, and has been going downhill since the 1970s.

Perhaps the author means ‘not finished yet’ - as in finished off, not as a well finished object.

“Why not ask Australians” what to do? Because you would get a big “dunno”. You would be asking the same Australians responsible for the governments who have buggered up the country. Besides, there are so many different people here now, so many different beliefs and ‘cultures’, that there is no possible chance of consensus.

The author's “cohesion and belonging” is non-existent, thanks to multiculturalism and mass immigration. It might be a “great land”, but that’s nothing to do with the quality of the people. There is certainly “diversity”, but not a lot of “adaptation” from incoming hordes. In fact, the political class demands difference, a la multiculturalism. Our “heritage”, British, is frowned upon and insulted.

The author's bio reveals impressive qualifications; but none on this subject.

Not knowing who Graeme Couch is, but thanks for the article which made for refreshing reading, from my progressive perspective, a good idea of some value. Then I read the first comment from the Usual Old Suspect, who seems to have nothing better to do, than be the first to post some bitter negativity, which he does constantly. Must be stuck in a time warp, unable to move on from 1960, and that's only 66 years ago.

Shoehorning White Australians into a multicultural disorganisation of wedge politics for votes sake!

Australia died as a cohesive society in the 1970’s with the abandonment of the White Australian policy, so cohesive and all encompassing, which displayed all the characteristics described in this article the author imagines are relevant in fact and practice, but are simply a myth perpetuated by the Political thieves who actually stole the por of gold it once was, and gave it away to the undeserving anti-Nationalist foreigners crowding our shores with nothing to gain but everything that was lost by their hosts, whom they detest as reward!
