One Nation and coalitions : Comments

By David Leyonhjelm, published 2/6/2026

Many people on the anti-Labor side of politics believe the only way to remove Labor from government is for the Liberal Party and Nationals to work with One Nation.

Thanks, David, food for thought, and another possible antidote to "Kos Samaras Theory". Which claims in effect, that Labor and One Nation are now the dominant electoral tribes, with the Coalition gone for all money.

No matter how unfamiliar, any and all options should be considered, because the last thing Australia needs is five more years of divisive Albanese with his United Nations open-borders net-zero doctrines.

There's no point to comparing Australia with countries 'around the world'. Our ruling class loves to be different: compulsory voting, preferential voting. One of the parties lies to get elected; the other one never gets rid of the Liars' rotten legislation when they get in.

And, both parties lie to us about Australia being the "best country in the world". It's not the worst - compared with the Third World - but is as sure as Hell not the best.

Its absolutely true that the parties of the right don't need to go into formal agreements before the election. It was a mistake for the Libs and Nats to go back into a formal arrangement after the last break-up.

Let each right of centre party chase their own constituency and see where the chips lay after the election. This is how the left operates with the ALP and Green operating as they are deadly opponents only to fully co-operate post election to maintain the so-called progressive agenda.

I feel that each party wants a formal agreement pre-election because they are afraid that after election, like with musical chairs, they won't have a chair to sit on and would prefer to book their place early. But that's not good for the right of centre agenda.

The problem for the Liberal party is the "broad church" mentality, where the parties progressive wing does't want a bar of the extreme radicals from One Nation and other crazy parties. Coalitions often lead to a situation where the tail wags the dog, evident how the Cow Cocky Party has control of the Noalition when in government.

Glad Israel gets a mention, a coalition of conservatives with radical Zionists, the consequence being the slaughter of more than 70,000 Palestinians. In earlier history a German coalition between the larger conservative German National People's Party led by Alfred Hugenberg and Adolf Hitler's radical National Socialist German Workers' Party, had unintended consequences, I'm sure Hugenberg didn't anticipate that such a coalition would lead to war and the deaths of 60 million people.

Back in Australia its also a question of intelligence, can anyone imagine the country with the "super smart" the Lovely Pauline as PM and her deputy dog Barnyard Joy, lying in the gutter, abusing his mobile phone! Popularism with no policies is a recipe for disaster!

Now with the Mad Monk Abbott back running the Liberal party who knows what kind of deal he would do to form a minority government. Who can forget Abbott begging the cross bench to make him PM in 2010.

Should the White Australia Party form, (they are trying) and go on to win a couple of seats in the federal parliament, who knows what kind of dealane Abbott and Hanson coalition would make with White Australia to take government, we could even see the Neo-Nazi Thomas Sewell as the next Minister For White Immigration.

"who knows what kind of dealane Abbott and Hanson coalition would make with White Australia to take government, "

Since he can't deal with the facts as they stand, Paul has decided to create a fictitious party to show how bad the anti-Labor forces are.

It seems Paul is completely opposed to coalitions. But I seem to remember him being cock-a-hoop about the ALP-Green coalition way back when. I guess he's only opposed to coalitions that deny power to the left. Standard operating procedure.

Now let's wash the grime off from having to deal with Paul's tripe and get back to reality.... As the article says, its absolutely vital, if they are going to have a chance of removing this increasingly reckless government, that these right of centre parties don't involve themselves in internecine warfare. I saw a bit of that in an interview of Angus Taylor t'other day where he was at pains to point out that One Nation will agree with some of his policies and not others and he'll agree with some of there's and not others, and he see no problems with that. Exactly the right tone. I feel I've also detected a dialling back of One Nation's attacks on the Libs.

Whether all concerned will be able to hold the line until the next election is in doubt but we'll see.

If Pauline can stop cases like the treatment of Henry Nowak by police before he died, then she might get good support. Those coppers should be charged with mishandling a critically ill person. They would have caused more bleeding at least. Absolutely horrific and a pointer to where Magoo could take Australia.

mhaze,

Paul doesn't understand that when you hunt the monster you become the monster. McCarthyism is another word for it.

White immigration is a deliberate derogatory term to denounce & deflect & demonise right immigration as in only letting Nation building migrants into the country. I'm certain that so-called coloured people would find it ridiculous being referred to as white simply for being of decent character.
The opponents of harmony find it just so irritating that a targeted political party offering a real alternative to establish peace & economic viability could make it this far despite the relentless maligning & character assassination. And, now that there is a very real possibility of One Nation becoming a proper force to be reckoned with, the hanger-on component of this society is in panic mode. The misinformation & straight-out lying has now gone into top gear ! They're $hit-scared that their lack of merit will now be fully exposed & the rest of society will act accordingly !

I am not aware that One Nation holds a large number of seats in parliament.
But apparently, polling of voters shows it does have large support.
This means it has potential, not reality.
What happens at the next election is not certain.
The political climate could undergo a major change before then?
The coalition envisaged by some might never be possible.
And I have serious doubts about the ability of One Nation.

Ipso fatso,
I don't think One Nation would perform as badly as its opponents & entrenched Public Service bureaucrats are trying to portray them as.
The one 1000% certainty is that One Nation will have to ward off so much sabotage & antagonism & absolutely no co-operation whatsoever from the Labor heavy Public Service & its taxpayer funded propaganda machine ABC & SBS. Watching some of the Parliamentary sessions featuring Sen Hanson & Roberts are a crystal clear indicator & proof of that.
The One nation team now has the moral support to actually & seriously start planning policies & as or rather if their popularity remains or even grows, many decent people among the inner circles of bureaucracy will actually cooperate to drain that swamp & clear it of the entrenched deadwood. The real battle for One nation is only just beginning ! For Australia's sake I wish them all the success possible !
