By Tom Harris, published 19/5/2026

Coal is unfashionable, but still indispensable. The world’s energy numbers prove it.

'"... the Australian government's Net Zero Economy Authority tells us, "As Australia transitions to net zero by 2050, our coal-fired power stations will gradually close and our energy will come from renewable sources, like wind and solar"'

As Australia transitions - as if it is actually happening when it is obviously not. Fossil fuels still provide 90% of our power requirements.

Coal-fired power stations will gradually close? At our peril. It won't happen. We need more fire-powered stations. Albanese should be copying the Chinese commos on that.

What should be closed down, not "gradually" but immediately, is the Net Zero Economy Authority.
