It is hard to believe anyone and anything, including polls. John Howard I think it was, said that election results are the only polls that matter.
Whichever way the dills vote, they will get what they deserve. Posted by ttbn, Thursday, 5 March 2026 9:05:31 AM

we have to rely on what people say with their vote, or else we do not support democracy.
My opinion is people will vote Labor for a while yet because they clearly see it as better than the Coalition with the latter perceived to be not up to it. For the Coalition, it needs to do well in Melbourne and Sydney, or both. But muscular right wing bs will not cut the mustard, as Turnbull notes. Your average voter doesn't seem to realise that both branches of the uniparty have put Australia in peril by wiping out the country's manufacturing and cheap energy, as well as blighting farmers with red tape, and almost completely ignoring defence. Not to mention mass immigration and multiculturalism.
Currently, the one they have both ignored for yonks: not enough fuel storage when things in the Middle East go bang. Posted by ttbn, Thursday, 5 March 2026 1:51:46 PM

Chris lewis, So, what you're saying is hat the Coalition will need to sell out Public Service positions & Welfare allowances to people who will in all likelihood never contribute to Australian society in a positive way ? Posted by Indyvidual, Thursday, 5 March 2026 6:42:10 PM

The most effective attack on Labor is to delegitimise the Greens. Without the Greens Labor flounders.
The Greens and their nonsense, escape Scott free. That should change. Posted by diver dan, Thursday, 5 March 2026 8:50:18 PM

Nuremberg Dan,
We have already de-legitimatised your National Socialist Australian Workers Party, now you want to attack us poor Greenie's. Me thinks you be pissed off now that you can't dress up in your snappy black uniform, goose-step down the street, and hold those torch light processions. I agree what's the world coming to when an old bloke like you can't "Sieg Heil" around the neighbourhood with your stereo full blast playing Wagner at 4am! Come join the Greens, and we'll protest your right to be a neighbourhood nuisance 24/7! Posted by Paul1405, Friday, 6 March 2026 5:16:49 AM

The obvious strategy to persecute the green movement is to introduce compulsory national service for those aged eighteen, both male and female: this is the age before University brainwashing goes into top gear.
The myth believing generations will learn some practical applications applicable to their own survival, discipline and clear thinking techniques; coping skills in combat along with skills honed in the tough outdoors. That would be sufficient education to forge a sensible grip on reality and ultimately change their obsession with climate change and other assorted myth common to the Greens, and follow a mature approach to politics based on stark realities. "and other assorted myth common to the Greens"
- Hmmm Google? Are the Greens party the most critical of Israel in Australia? AI Overview Based on available evidence, the Australian Greens party is the most prominent and vocal political party in Australia criticizing the state of Israel, its policies, and its actions in the Palestinian territories. . They have adopted a policy platform that labels Israel's actions as a 'crime of apartheid' and supports targeted sanctions. - I'm guessing that's what you meant Dan? Australians were more supportive of Palestinians even before October 7. Australian Jews are changing their views on Israel. And they need a new voice http://www.smh.com.au/world/middle-east/australian-jews-are-changing-their-views-on-israel-and-they-need-a-new-voice-20221109-p5bwv1.html "A 2021 study of the Australian public funded by Jewish media outlet Plus61J (The Jewish Independent) revealed that 62 per cent of the nearly 3500 respondents equally supported both Israelis and Palestinians, 11 per cent sided more with the Israelis and 19 per cent more with the Palestinians. Support for Palestinians was particularly pronounced among 18 to 24-year-olds." "A 2021 survey of American Jews found that 22 per cent of respondents agreed that “Israel is committing genocide against the Palestinians” and 25 per cent that “Israel is an apartheid state”." Furthermore, I'd just like to point out how dumb the idea of 'anti-semitism' is.
Follow my logic here... So, people have thoughts, feelings, and critical opinions on the subject of Israel and Jews. And Jews response is 'We wish to fight Anti-semitism!' Okay, but how are you going to do that? Let me get this straight... You want to change the way a person thinks and feels and has critical opinions about Israel and Jews, BY FIGHTING THEM? - Attacking and vilifying them, and somehow you think they are going to think differently about Israel and Jews once attacked and vilified? You think you can attack, threaten and vilify someone and they will like you more, or say 'Geez I really was wrong about you'. No, they will just resent you more because you are proving that you're incapable of facing criticism shite. - You can reason with someone who refuses to reason. The way to stop anti-Semitism, is for Jews and Israel to stop acting in a way that others consider vile and contemptuous and which generates that criticism in the first place. And that's why the idea of 'fighting anti-semitism' is dumb. The way to truly fight anti-Semitism, is for Jews to change their attitude and stop acting in a way others find repulsive and unconscionable. Jews want to fight anti-Semitism, they should start by looking inwards. Posted by Armchair Critic, Friday, 6 March 2026 11:21:40 AM

I like Diver Dan's suggestion of delegitimizing the Greens, but they now seem to be treading water, and they can't do that for long. But the Labor party do seem to use Greens watermelon policies. Not so long ago Greens laughed at One Nations share of the vote, not anymore.
One Nation did much better than they expected, or were prepared for, but they deserved it because of their discipline, hopefully the media cycle doesn't suck their win out of the landscape. One Nation needs to consolidate their gains, and meet new challenges. Posted by Canem Malum, Saturday, 28 March 2026 7:37:14 AM

In reference to this (http://forum.onlineopinion.com.au/thread.asp?article=23882#401906)
Diver Dan- I think that "university is the Woke Marxist version of national service"- but is much less practical. It reminds me of the argument between Plato the "abstractionist" and Aristotle the "experientialist/ practicalist". The School Of Athens by Sanzio Raphael. According to Samaras Theory, one can't win government without the "most diverse" (migrant-dominated) city electorates, of which Labor holds ~ 50. Ergo, world-beating mass migration, 4eva.
Mark Carney addresses Parliament today. Defying Samaras Theory, he's slashed net migration, to give Canadian voters a housing break. You won't find mention of this, at ABC and other embedded Australian media.
