The idea that people have to hold a "Preachers Licence", would be unenforceable. Will licences be granted to all so called preachers? Were Jim Jones (Peoples Temple) and David Koresh (Branch Davidians), responsible for the murder of over 900 people, licenced by the Pope or some such exalted Christian leader to preach, and then to murder. Do all Christians take responsibility for the action of extreme christian radicals. That's seem to be what being asked of all Muslims

Radicalism is dangerous in all its forms, be it religious or political, which can form a lethal combination. There are always underling factors that cause radicalism to take hold, mostly socio-economic grievances that results in the more moderate members of society, feeling they are discriminated against, or threatened in ways by others within society, then seek restitution, and that is often in the form of some kind of extremism against the perceived wrong doers and their supporters.

GY article" the Islamic community has to take some responsibility for recent acts of terrorism. Not that the community is collectively guilty for them, but that they arise from a form of 'radical' or 'extremist' Islam, and that can best be policed from within the community."

That begs the question, should all religious communities including Christian and Jewish communities take some responsibility for the actions of some of their own? Do Australian Christians take responsibility for the murders at Wieambilla in 2022 of two police officers and a civilian by what the police described as a Christian fundamentalist terror attack. What has the Catholic, Anglican etc etc churches done to prevent future Christian terrorism? I'd say absolutely nothing,as they continue to fill children's heads with their dangerous garbage!

The root founder of the big three monotheistic religions today Christianity, Islamic, and Judaism, Abraham, he was all prepared to sacrifice (murder) his son after hearing the voices! Maybe he did, the bloke should have been committed to a mental institution, and not written up as some kind of exalted holy than holy, certainly a nut job by today's standards!

The government in on the wrong tack.
Trying to limit what people can say won't limit what they can think.
To change their thinking takes time, and education is likely the key thing here.
This should start in schools.
And schooling should be standard. The same everywhere.
No more religious indoctrination.
And we must make people realise they are primarily instinct driven.
This needs to be recognised in order to control and direct instincts in to useful channels.
And we need to recognise that if we follow the trail back perhaps 100,000 years, we have exactly the same ancestors as a great many of those who live in other countries now.
We are certainly distantly related.
And it is important to realise that not all brains are the same.
Some persons have far more intellect and awareness than others.
It is sure that not everyone can be an Albert Einstein.
And nature decrees that there are many whose brains are 'mis-wired' as well.
They will become the serial killers, and the like.
This is inevitable.
So we must try to identify those with personality defects much earlier in their lives.
Only then can we separate them from those around them, and avoid wasteful harm.
All these useful approaches are likely something for future generations.
This generation certainly hasn't got there yet.
