Replanting trees does not replace old-growth structure, biodiversity, or century-scale ecological functions, which is precisely why restrictions exist.

The claim that logging bans merely outsource harm offshore rests on a false dilemma: it assumes fixed demand and zero policy agency over imports, certification, substitution, or plantation supply. What's presented as environmental hypocrisy is in fact a failure of trade and transition policy, not a refutation of conservation itself.
