That statement to me is no different from saying that all Chinese are dishonest. Here is a more accurate statement about indigenous people:

"All indigenous people are human beings. You cannot assume what they believe. That is patronising."

As for energy, supernova batteries might have more to offer the future than renewables, although I'd like an electric car with a 50+ year battery life and a fold out solar charging array, and definitely not drive by wire.

Its the same old Malthusian assertions. The population is too big and the resources are running out they assure us. Doom all around. From Malthus to Ehrlich to the Club of Rome and many others in between - all predicting gloom..... all wrong.

Its as though they've never heard of Julian Simon. Never pondered the ramifications of the Green Revolution or the demise of the Peak Oil scare.

The fact is that we aren't running out of resources. We've never run out of any resource and in many cases the amount of recoverable resources are greater now than at any time in history. Additionally the per capita calorie production is greater than in any time in history.

Mankind has a desire, even a need or a want, for impending Armageddon. In the past, there were any number of reasons to fear the future - disease, pestilence, drought flood. Now that those things have largely been defeated or at least no longer threaten Armageddon, the need to dream up new things to fret about grows.

But the neo-Malthusians are wrong - they've been wrong for the last two centuries. But that won't stop them proclaiming that the end is nigh and it won't stop people falling for it.

I thought that Malthuse had a point, but going chicken little doesn't often help.

I see oil as synonymous with organic chemistry. Long carbon chains are a very efficient energy storage mechanism. In a sense banning oil is banning life

Of course nuclear is a denser energy storage method, but it takes a lot of equipment to convert it to a useable form.

Everything comes down to political power, power over people, some are wise enough to realise that many people are just part of the scenery, and if you can stop the scenery affecting your life sphere too much, you can avoid their madness, tall fences help.

If your enemy can convince you to kill yourself, by denial of your own power, then they win. Maybe this is the true nature of the green revolution and Nikita Kruschev (we will bury you).

Oil is political power, the sane must have control for the world to be sane. But the sane must allow a limited sandbox for the insane to learn the value of sanity. Sometimes these sandboxes just concentrate the insanity.

Others think that we should just nuke the insane. Does that make them insane? or wise??

Western populations are not growing; they are not replacing themselves. The growth is in anti-Western populations. Most Western countries will be like the shitholes the immigrants are coming from, and they will be covered in smoke from thousands of animal dung fires. There will be no electricity.
