On the buses : Comments

By Ross Elliott, published 4/12/2025

Why do planners chase rail fantasies when buses already carry twice the passengers? Southeast Queensland’s real transit workhorse is on the road, not rails.

Both trains and buses have their advantages and disadvantages.
A combination of both is the best option.
Neither one nor other is a stand alone solution.
Whichever way you look at it it is costly and, yet again, shows the absolute stupidity of an out of control population growth.
Singapore has the best system I have yet encountered with both systems.

Infrastructure vision is gradually becoming a thing of the past as the quick Buck mentality will not allow it !

I would have thought that getting traffic of very congested roads to railways was a good idea, and less dangerous.

Inland rail is very similar to the Bradfield scheme. It's desperately needed & it will eventuate once bureaucrats are being replaced by thinking people with an interest in this Nation.

Buses and trains. Hmmm.
I much prefer trains.
Even though access to them might be a bit less than convenient.
They are fast and smooth.
And my understanding it that they are involved in less accidents.
They might cost more initially, but repay that cost with lower overall cost to the community?
On the other hand, buses and other motor vehicles are involved in alarmingly regular accidents.
Which is somewhat concerning.
I travelled in comfort across Australia by train.
I could not do that by bus.
So trains for longer journeys.
Buses for shorter commutes.
But isn't that what we do now?
