By Scott Prasser, published 24/9/2025

Mr Clare should scrap his super agency. It will have no impact on improving education quality, cost much and waste time.

Education in Australia is supposed to be a states responsibility. But, the Canberra thugs took it over, unconstitutionally. But, who cares about a little thing like the Constitution in Australia. Certainly not the communist-style uniparty.

WTF?

The author states "Education evidence is diverse and often ambiguous."

This is simply not the case. There has been extensive investigation into both the Curriculum and pedagogy within Australia and around the world.

The evidence is in and is available for anyone to see.

The problem is not knowing what and how to teach but actually convincing schools to do it. Teachers in schools are given a lot of freedom to use this evidence to suit the particular circumstances of their classes. Unfortunately too many do not do this.

Many years ago I was contracted to make a comparison between the Singapore Maths curriculum and the QLD Maths curriculum.

While the Singaporean Curriculum tended to introduce topics earlier and extend them further the content was much the same as that of QLD. So actual content engagement could not explain the differences in success between both places.

When comparing pedagogies they were also very similar. Both emphasised that when possible an investigative and hands on approach was needed to reflect the evidence found by research. Few teachers in QLD used the evidence based pedagogy suggested and reverted back to the lazy "work an example on the board and now do the next 30 questions from the text" method.

If current teachers have a reluctance to engage in evidence based pedagogies then unless any restructuring addresses this problem then I do not think anything will change.

WTF? - Not Again,
Your last sentence explains it all ! The past few decades have been the worst years of poor education going by the evidence before us.
Too much funding for education is syphoned off into Superannuation accounts hence the appalling mentality of "educated" people.

Why do many on the political right find it necessary to attack education in the way they do? It seems to me they are threatened by it, having people educated allows people to think for themselves, and more importantly reason for themselves. Its by having an educated society that disadvantage and exploitation can be overcome.

Indy, you say; "Too much funding for education is syphoned off into Superannuation accounts hence the appalling mentality of "educated" people." DO YOU have anything to back that up, or is it just another outrageous claims by an uneducated old bloke.

Paul1405,
You're either naturally deplorably stupid or you were educated in a Qld Public School (Labor Teachers) to come back with such comments !
Can't you muster even a half-ounce of integrity ? Don't you see what's happening or more likely, are you part of the systematic ruining of society ? There are sleazy migrants who have more integrity than you.

Paul1405,
For someone educated like you I'm amazed you can't differentiate between education & indoctrination.
I suppose I'm too uneducated to see how hunky dory things really are thanks to the educated, particularly all those Uni educated in the present Federal Government !
