Just read your post about the Hawaiian's. One of the worse cases of indigenous disposition ever. When visiting, we spoke to native Hawaiian's about land ownership, something they are prevented to do by the 'Homestead Act' where they are forced to lease their own land from the white masters.
My wife who is very interested in Polynesian culture, with her DNA being 80% Polynesian, asked locals; "Where are your (tribal) lands, where are your marae's (meeting places)?" Sadly they answered, that they can only lease land from the government, if they are lucky. BTW Despite huge numbers of homeless people being exported to Hawaii by other states, (they actually buy their homeless air tickets to Hawaii) and the native population being about 20%, native Hawaiian's make up 50% of the homeless population. There are huge numbers of homeless people there.
