Most of these concerns apply equally well to Australia although we have a lot of non-petroleum resources. I see California has several e-fuel startups but I doubt it can ever power more than a fraction of farm machinery and aircraft. The fire at the Moss Landing super battery raises doubts as to whether energy storage can solve renewables issues.

If the LA house fires were worsened by climate change I guess that cements the need for fossil fuel reduction in the minds of Californians. If Ca conventional oil and gas is nearly depleted the same may be true for fracking in other states. Trump's 'drill baby drill' will have limited effect.
