Congressional committee condemns (nearly) every feature of the Covid response : Comments

By Jeffrey Tucker, published 12/12/2024

Are there words in the English language that fully describe what happened during the Covid years that are not already overused? Calamity comes to mind. Disaster. Cataclysm.

The 1918 Spanish flu killed at least 17m people with the then world population of 1.8bn. Now with 8bn people Covid excess deaths could have been as low as under 7m. They must have done at least a few things right. Recalling the queues at the free jab clinics it was quite remarkable how it was put together so quickly. If it can be done better next time we'll have learned from it. Like other historic grievances best to move on.

Those responsible have been shamed and proven to have been lying all over the world. But, they would, and probably will, do the same thing all over again, now that they know how easy it is to frighten and control the plebs.

All to easy after the event. When do you have a shut down. Before the event or during an event or after the event.
We can only go by the recommends of persons that are in a position to call an event.
It was up to the individual states to call for a shutdown. Best to er on the side of caution than never at all.
What do you think you would like to see if ebola ever got in Australia. Or foot in mouth syndrome.

Dear Mr. Tucker,

I have really had enough of the conflated drama with regard to the world’s response to COVID. I’m sick to death of the blame game going on. I’m sick to death of the ‘You should have known better, you should have done this or you should not have done that.’ This whole drama is so familiar. After all, I’ve lived through it all in the ‘80’s. I am of course, referring to the AIDS epidemic.

Back then a terrifying new disease was sweeping through the community. At first it seemed to only effect the gay community, so zero heed was paid to it. After all, it was only a community of unworthy degenerates. Since the epidemic exploded around the world, an estimated 88.4 million people have become infected with the virus to date. Of these 42.3 million have died. As at the end of 2023 it is estimated that 40 million people are living with the virus. Of these, 53% are women. (UNAIDS statistics) According to recent reports from the ABC an increasing number of infections among heterosexual men returning from Asia has been reported.

These facts put to rest the misconception that HIV/AIDS was (is) a gay disease, spread by gay men. But that didn’t (and still doesn’t) stop the lies, the hysteria, the confusion, the trauma or the stigma suffered by the gay community. So much of what happened then is a repeat of what Mr. Tucker is going on about now. Once again, the world was faced with a previously unknown illness, where a mad scramble to understand what it is, how it is acquired, understand what it does to the body, how to treat and prevent it is totally understandable. Just as at the height of the HIV/AIDS epidemic, we are witness to medical and government incompetence (at all levels) mistakes, dead ends, wrong advice, medical and political in-fighting, blame and finger pointing.

If only this level of blame and hysteria had been present in the 1980 – ‘90’s, perhaps the deaths from AIDS could have been reduced to the level of COVID deaths. (WHO estimate 7.1 million worldwide).

Mr. Tucker, do yourself a favor and get yourself a copy of Randy Shilts definitive book “And the band played on” to understand that your level of blame and hysteria is way out of proportion.

As more and better data flows in from sources all around the world, it becomes increasingly clear, if such was needed, that the entire response to the so-called pandemic was a disaster that nations like Australia will be paying for into the next decade, at least. We should always remember that the current economic doldrums that Australia faces are due directly to the massive profligacy of the WuFlu response, a profligacy that was inevitable when governments decided to shut down most productive parts of the economy.

But the losses weren't just economic. Lives were upturned; elderly loved ones dying in isolation in fear of a virus; businesses built up over years of hard work were destroyed; domestic violence exploded; kids missed school when they weren't in the slightest threatened by the virus; civil liberties trampled on; police firing on protestors.

All in the name of fighting an unwinnable fight. And all to no avail. Jurisdictions that demurred from adopting the lockdown mania ended up proving that the lockdowns were useless in preventing death but costly beyond belief.
.
Dissenting voices were ruthlessly suppressed and careers destroyed. People were forced to take an untested vaccine that didn't do what was claimed for it but may well be the cause for an as yet unexplained bump in excess deaths.

It is claimed that the governments were working in the dark and therefore shouldn't be blamed for making false steps. And that is true for the very early days of the lockdown mania. But by April 2020, (so three months into the scare) voices were already raised that pointed to the correct path. (even on these pages... http://forum.onlineopinion.com.au/thread.asp?discussion=9129#301593).

One of those was Jay Bhattacharya who is now appointed by Trump to the National Institutes of Health. Expect more revelations as to the lockdown lies and the origins of the virus.

Thanks for publishing this summary of the HoR report. It's very enlightening.

And thanks, Mhaze for your summary of the last few years. You captured it well.

The problem with the madness over the last few years is captured well in the article. The problem is that the whole thing was based around lies, a deliberate deception. Anyone who has scratched the surface to look beyond the official narrative has realised this.

For example, as was implied within Tucker's summary, the first step in making sense of the whole farcical situation is understanding that the vax was not made for the lockdowns, but the lockdowns were made for the vax.

Those that created policy during "the Covid response" should be held personally responsible and disallowed from holding public or organizational or corporate office in the future, and having their name immortalized and decried in public literature, and having advanced or PhD qualifications and tenure stripped, due to the great damage that their policies have caused. We cannot let people of such low policies hold authoritative positions in our society, when they use their authority to tear down society.
Sadly it appears that the Marxist's had a significant influence over Covid policy- including Marxist's in China, the US Democratic Party, the Marxist infiltrated Health Care System (as Gramsci Cultural Hegemony), the University Academic Aristocrats, etc.
Thanks for the article.
