"Lavrov Dismisses West's Ceasefire Idea: 'Not a Path to Peace'"
Lavrov? Lavrov? I'm just trying to remember where I heard that name before. Oh now I recall. He's the bloke who told AC that Ukraine was trying to ban the use of Russian among Russian speaking citizens in Ukraine. He's the man AC told us wouldn't possibly lie about such a thing. Until.... I showed AC the actual Ukrainian legislation which showed unequivocally that Lavrov did indeed lie. But fear not...AC memory-holed that with his usual alacrity. Everyone is currently jockeying for position in the expectation that Trump will come in like a wreaking ball post 20 January. Russia is trying to get the land it lost to Ukraine back. And its trying to grab a bit more of the Donbass. Ukraine is suddenly sounding like the ceding of the Donbass isn't the end of the world so long as the rest of the rump Ukraine is fully and permanently protected from the avarice of the Putin regime. Meanwhile, there are growing reasons to think that Putin might be anxious to find a face-saving way out of the mess he and his incompetent military have created for Russia... http://tiny.cc/zuezzz Trump is already setting the policy criteria for all these bit players and he's still 6 weeks away from having any de jure power Posted by mhaze, Friday, 6 December 2024 10:37:57 AM

>>Mr Zelensky said it was key that NATO should “immediately” cover all of the land Kyiv controls, so Vladimir Putin does not use the peace to prepare for another invasion...
Mr Zelensky said in the new interview that Ukraine would later try and return any Ukrainian land Russia continues to hold in a “diplomatic way”...
Mr Trump has not made clear how he plans to achieve peace, but analysts believe it will likely mean Ukraine cedes territory to Russia...
The bombshell from Mr Zelenksy marks the first time he has said Ukraine could cede land to Russia, with the Ukrainian previously adamant he would even recapture Crimea...
Earlier this year, Mr Zelensky presented a peace plan to the Ukrainian parliament and Western allies.
He released a five-step “victory plan” that included Ukraine joining NATO and increased military support from the alliance.
Mr Zelensky also discussed the plan with Mr Trump and spoke with the President-elect via phone after his landslide win.
“Nothing of what Zelensky and his aides heard from Trump and his team in private has been alarming or made us feel that Ukraine is going to be the one who pays the price,” a well-placed source said.
Following Mr Trump’s election, reports emerged that he would freeze the conflict in place and establish a demilitarised zone down the locked front line, the Wall Street Journal reported.
Kyiv would not join NATO for 20 years, but the US would continue to arm Ukraine to the teeth to prevent Putin from invading again.<<
Read between the lines.
Look at the Trump administration.
Russia is not going to accept these terms, and they will blow up NATO troops the moment they are in Ukraine.
This is not a peace plan.
