Shooting stars : Comments

By Stuart Ballantyne, published 26/11/2024

What is it about movie celebrities, highly skilled in pretending to be other people in pretend situations, they would willingly shoot themselves in the foot and lose 50-60% of their fan base?

They seem to carry over their make-out jobs into their real lives, some of them, the lefties. There are quite a few conservative types in Hollywood as well, and they are the ones I like and watch. I can say that I have never watched a movie featuring any of those paid by Democrats to support Harris. They are crap actors as well as crap people, in my opinion; which makes them just like everyone else. Actors thinking their opinions are any better than the local butcher's are just plain arrogant and childish.

Their threats to leave America are always good for a laugh, though.

I find Stuart Ballantyne more entertaining than the lot of them.

For once I mostly agree with Stuart Ballantyne.

Celebrity political endorsements are hardly new – Charlie Chaplin supported trades union rights in the 1920s and the US civil rights and anti Vietnam war movements in the 1960s and 1970s had lots of celebrity supporters who didn’t just post vacuous supportive tweets but actually participated in campaigns and activism.

But more recently, endorsements have often been counter-productive. It is irritating having someone who is famous as a singer or actor preaching at us on issues such as migration, climate change or the Voice on which they have no expertise or authority – as is sometimes embarrassingly obvious. Celebrities tend to align with politicians and causes which will anyway appeal to their fan bases, so celebrity endorsement may not change many votes. And endorsements by controversial or minority-appeal celebrities may actually put off mainstream voters.

And one sometimes wonders with the elderly has-beens who seem make up a disproportionate of celebrity endorsers where their motives really lie. Do they really hope that their lingering popularity will boost the electoral chances of a particular candidate, or do they hope that the candidate’s popularity will boost their own fading reputations.

There is an interesting article in The Guardian which covers the same issue in a more thoughtful way:

Celebrities only matter to bored neurotic wardrobe drinking housewives, while those with a life don’t give a tinkers!

What is it about the Woke Left (Down) that makes them fail so miserably to see the errors of their mentality despite an abundance of proof of Leftist unworkability ?
Margaret Thatcher once stated that the problem with Socialism is that it eventually runs out of other peoples' money.
That time has now arrived yet still, some of these parasites vehemently perpetuate their failure-ridden agenda ! And, they're panicking big time !
Conservatism (Right-Up) is finally being realised that symbiosis is the logical way forward in all societies as people are tiring from paying more & more Tax to support the parasitic.
Most people mistakingly point the finger at the wealthy industrialists when it is in fact the hordes of bureaucrats, show business, Sport & advertising who are absorbing the bulk of the funds that should be spread among working, revenue producing society ! Yes, many industrialists are benefitting excessively from Negative Gearing & that must be reduced to
more acceptable levels but not just for them, all the others also !
Can anyone offer a more workable system to alleviate poverty & extreme low income to make us a better society ?
