All very sound but maybe a bit idealistic in practice. And events have moved on in relation to DGs. There are a number of acting appointments pro tem, including DG for Premier and Cabinet. Mr Mackie remains on the acting list but also remains as PSCer, leaving open the option of moving back to that position. Interesting to watch that appointment. 10 positions to be filled permanently.
DC has kept the same group of people from the shadow Cabinet to become Ministers but shuffled a few people and modified responsibilities. More or less as promised but there must be change down the track as it seems unlikely all will perform as hoped for.
There’s a swap for Leader of the House, with Andrew Powell becoming a minister with major responsibilities for Environment and Tourism, and the Premier has indicated this is to sort out some issues. Treasurer also has the Energy responsibilities, presumably to get control of any wild expenditures lurking out there. A few other significant changes e.g. Main Roads portfolio, presumably including a focus on the Bruce Highway.
No references at all to Assistant Ministers. Again, interesting. They may come later as people like Amanda Stoker need a chance to perform and have good experience. Also north Qld supported the Government electorally but doesn’t seem to have gained obvious representation at the Cabinet level.
Finally, what has happened to all those media people employed under the previous Labor Governments? Have they all gone or did they slip into the PS to hide away?

We do need public services, but there are too many of them, increasing under the Albanese regime and touted as "job creation", when the jobs we should be creating in are private enterprise and productive.

Some extensive good advice. Whether this government is capable of following any of it remains to be seen.

Just take a very minuscule peek at the Robodebt scandal or Premier Newman's efforts in Queensland to refresh your memory of the complete and catastrophic destruction of the public service by politicians. It seems that the only reason politicians get out of bed in the morning is to (a) get elected and (b) stay elected. Therefore, I can not see any of Scott's perfectly reasonable suggestions even getting a look in. Sad really.

Here's a start, get rid of aged welfare payments to the non-productive's, and then the taxpayer wont need to fund an army of PS to pay billions to pensioners who have no prospect of ever kicking in again.

I'd overlooked this thread & the last post by Paul1405 highlights the ignorance we're up against.
It is one of the reasons why bureaucrats should be ineligible for voting.
The Robodebt fiasco was solely due to bureaucrats with the mentality above. The indifference to responsibility & integrity by many bureaucrats are the main factors in the failures of providing the services in which literally hundreds of Millions of dollars are misappropriated or blatantly wasted.

Latest news— Premier has now appointed 10 assistant ministers including Amanda Stoker, and with spread of focus on the regions. However, this does mean 30 LNP members are now in the ministerial group, out of 51 seats. Sounds a bit rich, and it will be costly in Budget terms. I thought an effort would be made to cut these numbers back. Don’t see any rigorous control of money here.

Pork barrelling steps up a notch or two at election time from the big two, the Government in the hope it will help it retain office, and the Opposition hoping to win office. You hear of the grandiose announcements at the federal and state level, that's on the 6 o'clock news, mostly from the party leader, but also from local candidates in the electorate in the hope of gaining popular support over their opponent. After the election is run and won, promises made, and favours owed, are often repaid. The seat of Lytton was a typical example, although the LNP didn't win the seat, the Labor incumbent suffered a 12% swing, there would be deals done and promises made as in all electorates, all done at the local level.

There are more non-productives in the PS who take the greatest slice of the cake & most don't even spend their money in our local economy unlike the old age pensioners ! So, who rid ourselves of first ?

As one who is in total agreement with my idea of a Seniors National Service, think of the benefits, it will get you out of Gods Waiting Room, away from the one arm bandits, and off the grog! Out there in the fresh air and great outdoors, doing a spot of light duties, pot hole repair here, a bit of ditch digging there, weed control, swamp draining, rubbish collecting, its all for your benefit. I hear you say; "What about my pay?", again I have the solution its called "Food Stamps For The Elderly" new program, new government department, more highly paid and productive public servants needed, that will allow you to retrieve ample supplies of tinned beans and 2 minute noddles every fortnight from your local government store, manned by a fine upstanding bunch of well paid young public servants, oh! the joy. Can I count on you for a 100% effort on this? Remember corporal punishment is not something that we want done to excess, but I say, spare the rod and spoil the old bloke! Agree? Remember our motto, "Work And You Shall Eat (Possibly)".
