A 'trans'gression confession : Comments

Back at the entrance, dodging the crowds who knew exactly where they were headed, I looked up again at the sign and realised I had taken one right turn too soon.

Meanwhile, gender on a whim and a declaration: The Equality Bill passed through NSW parliament's upper house on Thursday night.
It will allow transgender people to change their birth certificates without having to undergo surgery.
The bill makes threatening to "out" an LGBTIQA+ person an offence.

It may help clarify a confusion of terminologies if we use the two biologically precise terms "genotype" and "phenotype".
Genotype is the appearance as determined by the chromosomes in each cell and phenotype is the external appearance of the whole organism.
Genotype is unchangeable - my sex chromosomes say "male" regardles of what I do to my body.
Phenotype is my appearance.
When I get a tattoo my phenotype changes but my genotype does not. Every child I pass my genotype to is born without that tattoo or any of the scars that my body receives in the course of my life.
When an individual has "sex re-assignment surgery" his or her phenotype changes but their genotype does not.

Interesting, Brian of Buderim, but now it doesn't matter. Someone just has to declare "I'm a female" (or male) and Bob's your uncle - er, maybe your aunt!
