By Vince Hooper, published 3/9/2024

With Ukraine issuing a stern warning to Belarus regarding the presence of its troops near the Ukrainian border, the risk of miscalculation looms large.

'Is Belarus a pawn in Putin’s strategic chessboard?'

It kind of annoys me hen people talk but have little idea of what they're talking about.

Lukashenko was open to working with the west and was moving in that direction; until America tried to overthrow him in a western sponsored coup, and then he turned back to Russia, as you would.

The West aims for regime change in Belarus;
That is the US wants to make Belarus a pawn in their own grand strategic chessboard, just like they've already done to Ukraine.

This (above) may as well be the United States own documents.
This (below) certainly is US policy.

US policy is suicide.
Don't you know Russia has a strategic nuclear doctrine that allows the use of nuclear weapons if they face an existential threat.

And here America is in policy saying it wants to chop the country up into small pieces.
Sounds like an existential threat to me.

None of you people seem to have any idea of anything.
And FYI, Belarusian forces on the border are there to lock the Ukrainians in place, it's basic military strategy 101.

Belarus is most likely not going to invade.
Putin is annihilating the Ukrainians at at steady rate, Russia doesn't really need anyones help, but he is keeping forces back in case NATO openly takes part in the conflict.
If that happens, I wouldn't be at all surprised if Belarus joins the conflict, but it's likely the US would try to stage a coloured revolution in Minsk at the same time.

"The path forward will require careful diplomacy, robust defense measures, and unwavering commitment to the principles of international law. The choices made in the coming months will have far-reaching implications for the future of Eastern Europe and the broader international order."

Those stupid neoconsevatives know the war is lost, but they don't have a reverse gear so they keep on escalating and trying to keep it together until after November or until Ukraine collapses completely, which is kind of already happening.
Don't worry about Kursk, this was a failed attempt on the Kursk NPP.
The Ukrainians there won't be there for too much longer...

Diplomacy?
Maybe you should hold some more peace conferences without inviting Russia.
Diplomacy is done.
Lavrov said so, it's unconditional surrender for the Ukrainians now, and the longer they take the more men will die and the more territory will be lost.
