CO2 levels in the atmosphere are at uncharted levels! Catastrophic Climate events never seen in living memory are destroying life and property on an unpresented scale! Yet the fossil fuel barons and their paid and bought mouthpieces will claim nothing to see here!

What harm will be wrought by a transition to nuclear energy? None at all, but the price of energy will come way down, and if it's MSR thorium, as low 3 cents PKWH!

And that scares the fossil barons witless! AS entire economies are supported by oil and gas!

And funding for terrorism and Putin's war would all but dry up!

Every gallon of gas we pump buys bullets and contributes to the purchase and use of bombs rockets and delivery platforms!

Let's transition to nuclear and electrify the economy ASAP! No harm but plenty of upsides will ensue!

There never was, never will be, a "climate emergency".

Asteroid strikes are difficult to anticipate as to when and where. Climate change is happening now with few places unaffected. Rather than a crisis I think climate change is an insidious problem that should be nipped in the bud. The critical period is between now and 2050 when oil and gas will be unaffordable. That's one reason to find replacements before the shock hits us. Plenty of coal but it has health problems.

Some of the costs are mounting. No re-building on flood plains or some coastlines. The cost of desalination as well as heatwave deaths. Putting powerlines underground to minimise fire risk. The fantasy of 80% renewables this decade. I think we should take effective action, for example nuclear replacing coal. That will not only reduce emissions but will help power the all-electric future.

Natural or human accelerated is irrelevant, the climate was never a status quo & never will be ! Any discussion about it is as pointless as the people who keep bringing it up. Let’s work on reducing pollution & direct the wasted funds & efforts towards that !

Not really, the people in that business have tracked a number
of large asteroids, one of which passed between the moon and earth.
They measure their orbit and project it onwards to see if it will hit earth.
They may find that it will hiy earth in 150 years time.
One NASA project was sent to land on an asteroid to sample it to see
what its composition was. It had a second purpose to see if they
could land on an asteroid and give it a push into a different orbit.
Knowing the mas of the asteroid they would know how powerful a rocket
or how many would be needed to move it into a safe orbit.
Anyway that is where the technique is at present.
