Joyce may have left the building, but don't expect any changes at Qantas : Comments
By Graham Young, published 11/9/2023Losing Mr. Joyce probably won't change anything for the airline as he had accomplices on the board and senior staff.

ttbn: "company that’s no different from all the others that the government won't allow in to compete."
Well this is just classical laissez-faire economics with minimising government control of industry and boosting private sector ownership of business and property. So QANTAS, telecommunications, electricity, Comm. Bank, roads and what ever else was publicly owned was sold off in the name of competition and benefits to consumers. No one could point to where the sale of public assets produces benefits to consumers could be cited, but the gullible could not scream for sell offs any more loudly. If you are not getting expected consumer benefits you may want to rethink your point of view. Posted by WTF? - Not Again, Monday, 11 September 2023 8:07:27 AM

Quantas as a publicly owned airline was held up as the safest airline in the world.
All the current problems are the result of privatisation and a board and a CEO that looks after their interests ahead of the company/shareholders. I agree that the whole lot should go just as soon as better replacements can be found and appointed. Otherwise, expect more of the same? Alan B. Corporate cartels, oligarchs and big businesses in Australia have manipulated the Australian political economy to minimise competition and avoid competition and investment in innovation and new business models. This lazy and corrupted form of capitalism harms Australian citizens, families and small businesses. This is unsustainable. It harms our democracy and liberal economy.

After a lifetime of Qantas travel, I finally gave up on them. I was never a big flyer, half a dozen trips a year nowadays, but many many 100s over the years.
Unfortunately, it's only Virgin left, but they will have to do.If Virgin gets their act together, they can make mincemeat of Qantas in the domestic market Qantas was once a great Airline. Posted by Aspley, Monday, 11 September 2023 2:50:17 PM

The new CEO is a lesbian. I have to admit don't identify with her character.
It seems they haven't learned from Budweiser. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dylan_Mulvaney Or Heather Swanson Just because they embrace an alternative lifestyle doesn't mean that they have to force everyone else to agree with them. Posted by Canem Malum, Tuesday, 12 September 2023 12:42:32 AM
