How will Australia fare when a nuclear holocaust takes place? : Comments

By Teck Lim, published 11/7/2023

Although the simulation is done for the northern hemisphere where the war is waged, the presentation ends with the estimate that over 5 billion people could starve to death.

Interesting article. I expect that Chinese Intelligence will be trying to influence Australian policy- as well as other western powers- through social media and other channels. Most people even in Australia aren't ready for the challenges that a post nuclear war would bring. But it would probably be better than Communism. I hope Australia has lots of nuclear explosives for scorched earth. Then we can start thinking about protecting our waters.

Interesting that the Australian Government doesn't allow the public to purchase "potassium iodide radiation blockers"- but the US does

Or… maybe this author is subsidised by “universal pictures”, and is subtly promoting their new gem, Oppenheimer.

Personally, I’m more interested in the exploits of “Indiana Jones and the dual of destiny”.

Failure to learn from the mistakes pf the past means we repeat them.

WW1 we had no weapons and men drilled with broomsticks. Slimily in WW11 we were not prepared and had cut defence spending to the bone.

We have no plans for a nuclear war nor that which could affect us! And our subs are thirty years away!

We have no homegrown nuclear deterrent! And should the US be attacked with nuclear weapons they'll be too busy looking after themselves to worry about us! We'll be left alone to make the best of what we can.

Thanks for the video Armchair Critic- James Lindsay's speech seems to contain a lot of interesting information. Kudos.

Diver Dan- Thanks for the info on the new Christopher Nolan- Oppenheimer movie. Kudos. The website Nuke Map is interesting you can choose Chinese weapons and see how much you'll be affected by their weapons in your location- whether vapourized, killed, windows blown out, radiation, burns, or otherwise.

According to the simulation-
If a Chinese Dong Feng 5 Mega Ton bomb is airburst at 200ft on central Sydney you have a fair chance of survival if you're in Liverpool assuming you can deal with the looting.
