By Ioan Voicu, published 12/12/2022

An interesting compromise solution has been achieved on the language for the formulations dealing with the war in Ukraine.

Yachty yack, blah, blah, blah, blah.

And the usual Sunday service will be held on Friday instead of Tuesday. The community pool will be available for nude bathing for females on Monday, for males on Wednesday and for the pastor and myself, any night we chose.

A bit of nude bathing (look Joe I've got nothing to hide) (what would you like to put on the table? That thing? I thought that was Hawkey's claim to fame!) (Nuclear energy perhaps) might do more to consolidate inter-regional diplomacy than all the expensive political hot air they can ventilate at costly political summits.

Interesting article and important role APEC has, with which Australia can participate with regional partners and/or other nations.

One gets the impression that former LNP PMs Howard et al. were not so interested in APEC, as former Labor PMs Keating et al. were, preferring a direct line to Washington and London, bypassing our own region?

The likes of Howard, Abbott et al. barely seemed able to acknowledge the existence of Asia, economic power eg. Indonesia, shared interests and culture with Australia, seemingly in preference to them climbing the greasy Anglosphere grifter pole?

Relevant article that offers a solid background on APEC and its political and economic relevance. Importantly, Australia’s role in the organization should not be ignored: it was established in 1989 at a ministerial meeting in Canberra, with the mission to create
an open economic alliance in the Asia-Pacific region, a key trade group with Canada and the United States as active members. Its goals are to create prosperity by promoting inclusive and sustainable growth in the region and accelerate regional economic integration. Focusing on the group’s Putrajaya Vision 2040, Dr. Voicu underscores APEC’s trade and investment solutions in a turbulent global environment – pandemic, war, supply-chain challenges, etc., serving goals such as the promotion of safe passage of labor and goods, connectivity and cooperation through sustainable innovation following the group’s Internet and Digital Economy Roadmap, and promoting the development of subsistence markets and disadvantaged minorities. Excellent article.
