Voters are looking for CHEAP energy leadership after the election. They are also concerned about the reliable supply of energy. They are not "deeply concerned" about climate change, either, as they gradually wake up to what the scaremongering is going to cost them.

Climate change policies will ruin many small businesses, hurt families and the vulnerable and threaten manufacturing and enterprise in this country, as has happened in Europe and the United Kingdom. The failure of the Coalition to use the recent election campaign to highlight and to fight against the insidious and destructive nature of green energy policies overseas is beyond shameful.

There is not a single fact, figure or observation that leads us to conclude that the world‘s climate is in any way ‘disturbed‘. It is variable, as it has always been, but rather less so now than during certain periods or geological eras. Modern methods are far from being able to accurately measure the planet‘s global temperature even today, so measurements made 50 or 100 years ago are even less reliable.

This "expensive coal" coal used to be cheap, our biggest advantage. Now, it's getting more expensive because of the massive subsidies to wind and solar, which would be totally useless without taxpayer subsidies, and are still unreliable no matter how much money is flung at the scam.

The 'extremes' of climate "across the nation" are no such thing. The climate is what it is, in Australia: always has been, always will be. These people must have been born yesterday.

From what I can see Victoria does not have an adequate replacement for brown coal. The offshore wind project lauded by Andrews will have days when is not producing. Can't use Bass gas to meet the deficit as local gas will have run out and LNG imports have been overruled.

Tasmania wants Vic to help pay for extra connections under Bass Strait but nothing is happening. As Victorian power shortages emerge I suspect an early casualty will be Portland smelter. By then Victoria's green vision may be tarnished.

The Labor government has again ruled out nuclear energy, even though polls show public approval. These wack-jobs can hardly expect their climate scam to be taken seriously when they won’t solve the supposed problem once and for all with nuclear power.

It isn't the climate so much as the CO2 content of the atmosphere that should be of most concern. The lowered pH of the Antarctic ocean is disrupting the reproduction of the micro fauna which sustain the krill and this will decimate the food chain in the whole of the southern ocean before long.

Gay marriage has been usurped by a the Republic as priority.

Nothing else will enter the picture other than the above irrelevance.

Parliamentary time will be wasted for the next three years on this topic, while the calamity this country is witnessing on more levels than climate change, will be effectively sidelined.

My prediction.

How about climate hysteric, Matt Kean, calling for more coal and gas to warm us in this very cold start to winter!

Abundant sun and wind!? And that where the (polly want a cracker) conversation ends for (science free zone) green idealogues! Controlled by closed mind idealogical imperatives. Claim that there's nothing cheaper, cleaner or safer and blatant BS. Given Thorium is abundant and everywhere.

Moreover, the soil in your quarter acre backyard or mine contains around 8 grams of the radioactive mineral. That 8 grams as part of a larger scale project would cost around 100 dollars to mine and refine.

That same 8 grams of thorium would power your house and car for 100 years without refueling. Do the maths., that's a dollar a year. And should we ever get to using it as our baseload power!?

Put all the other energy options into forced retirement, along with the energy barons who control them and their bought and paid for pollies!

Who will front the ignorant media with their brand of BS (lies, dam lies and statistics) to ensure the above never ever see the light of day!

Regardless of the economic boost on steroids, the adoption of the above would give, the length and breadth of our economy!

Dan you are a genius! Have to hand it to you mate, you alone have cracked it! Abolish gay marriage and hey presto the climate will return to normal so we can forever burn our abundant coal!

And must mean you have a brain as big as Texas and should be running the country! I mean, who but you would come up with such ingenious solutions! I prostrate myself in your presence.

I'm with you, Cody. This article is so ill-conceived and wide of the truth that it's laughable. Nothing but green left wing propaganda. There was no seismic shift of political views and voter actions at the last election - Labor has a 1 seat majority after a Coalition govt which had a one seat majority! There is no energy crisis - people are not dying from too little energy - the sources of energy needed to sustain our economy exist and are available but at a price that is far too high, largely because of the incompetence of past governments to manage our energy systems (in large measure, because they believed the false claims of renewable energy supporters).
With luck, some economic reality is returning to Australia.

With electorates falling hither and thither to the ALP and teals promising 'climate action' to reduce our emissions and save the world (lol), its beyond hilarious to find that they've barely got comfie in their new parliamentary seats when the fossil fuel crisis arrived.

And their solution to the 'crisis'? Beg the coal-fired electricity plants to increase their output. Repeat...burn MORE coal. Which, of coarse, increases the dreaded CO2 emissions.

Funny beyond belief.

And where are the oh-so-pure teals demanding that the coal not be burnt? Why aren't all those who think the GBR is gunna die demanding that we freeze for the good of the planet.

They're hiding from the truth just like their brethren who decided that they'd rather have cheap petrol than pay for their beliefs.

Because in the end, all those who want the nation's emissions to be cut are completely on board so long as someone else does the cutting. They've been lied to and have chosen to believe that cutting emissions is cost-free (for them) and have no intention of suffering the cost of their beliefs. The next three years is going to be a real eye-opener for these dills.

I am disturbed to see that the CEO of Environment Victoria (where I live) considers that a "Renewable Energy Target of 100% by 2030" would be "bold and vote winning". Where in his job description does it specify winning votes? And how does he see it as “bold”? It simply copies what Greens have done everywhere, arguably wreaking the present havoc.

No power supply of any substance and reliability has ever been grounded on solar and wind, nor can it be. We can utilise, or tolerate, the present 26.5% of Victoria's annual electrical energy output coming from intermittent solar and wind only because we have a legacy of fossil fuel generators. They are on the way out. Will Environment Victoria ensure they are somehow replaced? We can safely bet not.

Also Environment Victoria should brace itself. "100% renewables”, where the present output of electrical energy comes from solar, wind, etc, is only a fraction, about a third, of real future clean energy needs for eliminating fossil fuels. In other words, Victoria is only about 9% of the way to the true target. Tell that to the boss!

It has been of great concern to watch energy choice becoming a beauty contest judged by uninformed citizen vote. It’s worse to see public office bearers with no expertise in energy matters applauding and influencing such choices

Well let us give this a go! Everyone agrees it has to be only Solar and Wind so let's go Brandon!
Legislate only wind and solar building from now on and for every 10% of what they are promising then electricity prices have to reduce by 2.5% with no more increases. Everyone will be satisfied as I have lost count of the number of times Solar and wind were said to be the cheapest. Actually Bowen said it yesterday.
The whole stinking fraudulent edifice would collapse!

The climate cultists, are now blaming gas companies for not supplying Australia with cheap gas, instead of themselves for demonising gas. The Greenies drove the Gas companies who tried to set up gas companies and invest in selling it to Australia to overseas markets.

Now they are in danger of not having enough gas and coal to stop their frozen little toes and noses from dropping off with frost bite they are blaming the gas companies who are now selling most of their gas for high prices overseas.

The REAL CAUSE of Petrol prices & Inflation:-

Why don't the climate change people ,petition Biden to re-open the American gas and oil production and pipelines in America, which he shut down a few months after he was elected.

America was selling its oil and gas to Germany and the NATO countries for $49 a barrell. Biden shut down America's sales of oil and gas to those countries immediately causing a world shortage and doubling and now tripling the price of world supplies.

Biden in shutting down the deal PrTrump had done to sell American oil to Germany and Europe caused Germany and Europe to then go back to buying their energy supplies from Russia.

Thus costing America all that revenue from those sales, and handing all that money to Putin, providing him with all the oil millions to fund this war in Ukraine and making Germany 70% dependent on Russia to power their country. Even with the sanctions they are still paying Putin for their oil and gas because they have no other source of supply.

The media know Biden did this, but they never mentioned it,until now, months later, when they are deflecting blame onto the war in Ukraine and Russia.lying to protect Biden as they do.

PrTrump warned NATO not to buy their power supplies off Russia and did a deal with Germany and Europe to sell them American oil. Biden undid all that.

No government who has America and it's people at heart, could possibly do what Biden did. Of course the cost of fuel is tripling inflation because of transport costs.
