You want to talk about corruption? Ukraine is the most corrupt country in Europe, according to Transparency International.

Israel has its share of corruption! And what it has been doing in the occupied territories, not a lot better than what Putin is attempting in Ukraine!? And Australia is as pure as driven slush. Even so, wouldn't want to live anywhere else on planet earth!

Instead of pointing the finger at all the countries we dislike, perhaps we should be concentrating more on our own troubling slide in the rankings.

Transparency International, in its 2021 Corruption Perceptions Index, lists Australia as one of ten countries to watch for its decline in fighting corruption.

<< Australia (CPI score: 73) is one of the world’s most significant decliners, having dropped 12 points since 2012 to hit a record low this year. Its deteriorating score indicates systemic failings in tackling public sector corruption. Despite public calls and previous promises, last year Australia missed a landmark opportunity to establish a national anti-corruption agency with broad powers to investigate corruption. >>

This decline in the rankings has occurred over the last nine years, all of which have been under Coalition government. The solution with an election coming up should be obvious!

It is convenient for Coalition- haters to believe stories of corruption over the 9 years that the LNP have been in government. The only two politicians I know who have been found guilty of corruption and jailed are both NSW Labor politicians. Oh, and one Labor fed actually taking money from a Chinaman.

It is easy to find accusations against anyone for anything, on Google, according to your bias. Not many of the bigots, here at least, supply real evidence of instances of actual corrupted practices. Of course, many of them just suffer from severe self-loathing and loathing of their own country. One such could even be a CCP plant.

Hello Bronwyn, so much for your post. I have been watching Australia slide down the Corruption ladder from 8th to 18th, all within the 'leadership' of the LNP. When I think of the sports rorts, the regional grants and North Sydney Pool, the parking station rorts and the overnight appointment of 85 LNP politicians and fellow travellers to cushy government jobs on, amongst others, The Administrative Appeals Tribunal, I think we could be further down the ladder. My wallet goes hiding when I think of the rorts that will come if, I repeat if, the LNP manages to get re-elected.

How many are sure that Transparency International is any less corrupt than those they chose to judge? Just saying.

Agree, Private Eye did a great investigative report (no longer done by Oz media) on 'Londongrad' and enablers in the UK for Russian and other oligarchs, titled 'Looting With Putin'

https://www.private-eye.co.uk/special-reports/looting-with-putin

Further, many outlets including ByLine Times, The New European etc. are highlighting not just Londongrad and Russian influence, but Brexit and 55 Tufton St. think tanks plus the role of US fossil fueled climate science denying Koch Network think tanks (IEA, Net Zero Watch etc. linked to IPA, CIS etc.) and a Tanton white nativist & anti-immigrant NGO.

https://bylinetimes.com/2019/06/10/brexit-and-climate-science-denial-johnson-gove-and-raab-all-part-of-the-tufton-street-network/

Then even more interesting is a similarly linked think tank in Budapest, Danubius Institute, called out by conservative Anne Applebaum for being too close to 'mini Putin', Hungarian PM Orban, which has had some Australians 'conservatives' presenting (plus acting for the UK):

'Why Australia's conservatives are finding friends in Hungary'

https://www.smh.com.au/politics/federal/why-australia-s-conservatives-are-finding-friends-in-hungary-20190924-p52uim.html

One, a former Ambassador, Spectator contributor and Visiting Fellow, has, if not fled, done a 'reverse ferret' as his profile was disappeared with 102 days after Applebaum's Tweet, how embarrassing?

ttbn,

Russia is considered more corrupt than Ukraine. The abysmal performance of their army is proof of it.
